Scripture
That is why we always pray for you. We ask our God to help you live the good way He wanted when He chose you. The goodness you have makes you want to do good. And the faith you have makes you work. We pray that with His power God will help you do these things more and more. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of you, and you will be honored because of Him. This can happen only by the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. – 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
Declaration/Prayer
Lord, this prayer of the Apostle Paul for the members of the church he helped start in Thessalonica has an unexpected twist to it. He runs through the expected encouragements of…you’re chosen by God…He’ll help you live right…your faith leads to action…Jesus will be honored. But then Paul unexpectedly adds…and you will be honored. He didn’t have a religious understanding of You, he had a RELATIONSHIP understanding of You, and encouraged others to fully participate in this mutually honoring Jesus & Crew — Heaven & Earth partnership. I’m all in for this life-giving partnership, Lord; let’s roll up our sleeves and round up others to join in. Amen.
